How To Treat Hypothyroidism Naturally? Hypothyroidism, or low thyroid function, is a common endocrine disorder in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. There are many reasons that can cause hypothyroidism, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour. Symptoms, such as tiredness, poor ability to tolerate cold, and weight gain may be indicative of hypothyroidism. Natural Hypothyroidism Treatment - Treat the Underlying Causes:Identify and treat the underlying causes of hypothyroidism, like food allergies, gluten, heavy metals, nutritional deficiencies, and stress.
- Dietary changes: For those who have existing thyroid conditions, excess consumption of soy may affect thyroid function. Support your thyroid with optimal nutrition, including foods that contain iodine, zinc, omega-3 fats and selenium.
- Exercise: Engage in thyroid stimulating exercise, which boosts thyroid function. Many patients with hypothyroidism have reported benefits from practicing a yoga pose called the Shoulder Stand or Orsarvangasana, which increases circulation to the thyroid.
- Alternative techniques: Consider other alternative techniques that have been useful in correcting an under active thyroid – acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathic medicine, homeopathic medicine, biofeedback, and osteopathy.
- Minimize Stress:Practice deep breathing and other techniques that triggers the relaxation response, such as meditation and guided visualization.
- Thyroid Hormones: Use thyroid hormone replacement therapy to help support your thyroid gland. Home remedies for hypothyroidism - Coconut Oil: Coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids that help improve thyroid functioning.
- Kelp: Kelp is useful for those suffering from hypothyroidism due to iodine deficiency.
- Fish Oils: Fish oils are considered good for increasing thyroid hormone uptake and maintaining healthy thyroid function.
- Vitamin D: Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with several autoimmune diseases, including thyroid disease.
- Guggul: Research indicates that its active compounds called guggulsterones may help in the treatment of hypothyroidism by stimulating thyroid function.

How many people get affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis ?
Rheumatoid arthritis has a worldwide prevalence rate of 0.5% to 1% in adults .
This disease is two or three times more common in women than in men .
People of any age can get affected with this disease, it even affects children, but it most often starts after 40 years of age .

How does Rheumatoid arthritis affect the body ?
This type of arthritis is an autoimmune disorder, which means our immune system has began to attack it’s own tissues instead of protecting them.
Inflammation is a normal response by our immune system against infections, wounds and foreign objects. In rheumatoid arthritis, the inflammatory immune response is wrongly directed towards our joint tissues.
The chemicals substances produced by our immune system attacks the soft tissues (Synovium) of the joints and cause inflammation in them.
This leads to swelling, stiffness, redness and pain in the joints.
This inflammatory process progresses to damage the bone cartilages and the joint surfaces.  If left unchecked, it further produces joint deformities and disability.
Smaller joints are generally first affected in a symmetrical manner. Potentially any joint can get affected with the disease.
Along with the joints,  other organs and systems of the body, including the lungs, heart, and kidneys can also get affected.

What are the common factors that cause Rheumatoid arthritis ?
The exact cause of the disease is unknown, however many predisposing factors have been attributed.
Improper dietary habits and unhealthy lifestyle are the most common causative factors as per Ayurveda.
Cold weather, physical and mental stress, certain viral and bacterial infections have been attributed as precipitating factors.

How can Doctor Panickers Ayurveda help ?

Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis) occurs when an individual indulges in factors that aggravte Vata dosha and Ama (Toxins) in the body. Improper digestion and metabolism leads to accumulation of Ama (Toxins) in our body. This Ama combined with the aggravated Vata dosha localises in the joints and produces pain, swelling and stiffness.
In the initial stage, ayurvedic medications that metabolizes the Ama (toxins) and eliminate them out of the body are prescribed. Later, medications that pacify the aggravated Vata dosha are prescribed by assessing the changes in patients condition.
The choice of the treatment modality is made based on the assessment of the condition of the patient and the severity of the disease.
A Healthy planned diet is essential to support the normal functioning of our immune system, reduce the disease exacerbations and nourish the weakened joints. It thus reduces the severity or frequency of symptoms of the disease.
Following a diet rich in fruit and vegetables helps control the long standing inflammation of the joints. Their nutrients have antioxidant property that helps to neutralize free radical production by the body.

Exercises for Rheumatoid arthritis :-

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis may avoid exercise due to fear of pain, but this will further weaken the muscles and deform the joints.
It is important to practice simple exercises. Rest and exercise should be well balanced according the condition of the patient.
Simplified Yoga practices maintains the muscle strength and improves the flexibility of the joints.
Pranayama  helps to relax the mind and minimize the hyperactivity of the immune system.

To be followed :-

Use garlic in your regular diet. Buttermilk with garlic is an excellent remedy of rheumatoid arthritis.
Use whole grains that are rich in fibre such as wheat, millet, barley, horse gram, brown rice. Consume honey mixed with water. (older the honey, the greater its benefit)
Milk boiled with dry ginger can be taken in the morning and evening instead of tea and coffee.
Consume milk mixed with 3 gms of turmeric powder. Turmeric is  very effective to control inflammation of the joints.
Consume fruits and vegetables such as drumsticks, bitter gourd, carrot, green leafy vegetables, cabbage, mustard greens, papaya. These food items help to reduce the inflammation and hyperactivity of the immune system.
Pepper should be sprinkled over the fruits and vegetables that are cooling in nature.  Reduce weight if you are overweight.

To be avoided :-

Unhealthy and irregular dietary habits can trigger the abnormal immune response and increase the pain in the joints.
Curd, Black gram,  fermented food items, deep fried oily foods should be avoided.
Avoid common foods that cause allergies such as dairy products, peanuts, beets, soy, red meat, processed foods, artificial additives and preservatives, white flour and white sugar.
Alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, soft drinks and ice creams should not be consumed.
Avoid food items that cause indigestion and flatulence. Try to avoid keeping awake at nights and sleeping during daytime.

Consume fruits In their whole form and avoid them in the form of juices. Whole fruits with their fibre content aids in proper digestion and regulates the bowel movements.

Ayurveda strives to achieve balance within the individual’s mental and physical state of being. According to Ayurveda, anxiety disorders are caused due to pragya apradh (the unhealthy adaptation of physical and mental type leading to the mental imbalance).
Symptoms of depression and anxiety are triggered by excessive mental and physical stress, or disruptions of natural biological rhythms. According to Ayurveda, psychological problems start when fundamental imbalances develop in the biological intelligence that controls all bodily processes.
-Vata imbalance contributes to anxiety, fear, mental instability and insomnia
-Pitta imbalance may give rise to anger and irritability
-Kapha imbalance may lead to lethargy and depression
Anxiety According To Ayurveda
Anxiety comes under the umbrella of mental diseases called as manovaha strota vyadhi. Unmaad (hysteria) and apasmaar (epilepsy) are some of the mental diseases described in Ayurveda.
The pathology of the anxiety disorders in Ayurveda is due to the vikriti of manovaha strota due to vata. The basic line of treatment would be to eliminate the vata dushti (reason). Nasya therapy (inhalation therapy) is used as the nasal cavity is considered to be the entrance to the brain.
The anxiety disorders and the symptoms described in the classical ayurvedic texts are almost similar to those mentioned in modern science. The symptoms in anxiety disorders can be divided into physical and mental symptoms.
Physical And Mental Symptoms Of Anxiety
The physical symptoms of anxiety are the consistent condition of the reflex action that body shows in cases of danger like increased pulse, hot or cold flashes, stiff muscles, stomach pain, nausea, dizziness, headache and insomnia.
The mental symptoms are restlessness, behavior problems, nervousness, imaginary fear, hyperactivity, and confusions.
Herbs To Treat Anxiety According To Ayurveda

-Khus
-Jatamansi
-Bramhi
-Kevada
-Vacha
-Tagar

-Rose
Brain Tonics And Relaxation Herbs
Medhya (brain tonics /intellect improvisers) are used to balance the loss of concentration, memory, and insomniac disturbances that occur with anxiety.
-Nervine tonics like ashwagandha and bala are used to strengthen the nervous system.
-The choorna of single and multiple combinations are used. Like saraswat choorna, tagaradi choorna and ashvagandhadi choorna, and single drug choorna like vacha choorna, jatamansi choorna are used.
-Along with these medicines, the Rasayana preparation Brahmi Rasayana, ghrita (ghee based medicines) like maha paishachik ghrita, panchagavya ghrita, puran ghrita, and brahmi ghrita are also given.
-Fermented preparations like saraswatarishta, balarishta are used. The rasa (mercuric) preparations like krishna chaturmukh ras, unmad gajkesari ras and smriti sagar ras are frequently used in anxiety disorders.
-For controlling insomnia, jatamansi kwath (decoction) and madananand modak (big shaped sugar mixed pill) are given.
-The herb brahmi (bacopa monari) is a good anti-anxiety medicine (see- bacopa monari). The jatamansi herb is also a good sedative and safe, it doesn’t build up dependence and cause withdrawal symptoms like conventional medicines.
-Regular use of Brahmi medicated oil on the scalp at bedtime and inhalation can prevent anxiety attacks.

Triphala and Chyawanprash are two great Ayurvedic medicines. They both rejuvenate body and hence useful for anti aging purpose. But one has only three ingredients and the other has 37+. One requires just five minutes to prepare (powder the three and mix), while the other requires one full day. So how to decide which suits whom? Let’s find out.
Nourishment Vs Cleansing (detoxifying)  -  If you are particularly looking for cleansing and detoxifying, Triphala is more suited. I am not saying that Chyawanprash is not cleansing (please take your gun off my head :) ) Of course it does cleansing as well. But because it contains ghee, sugar, raisins etc, it is more nourishing than cleansing. So, if you are looking for nourishment and rejuvenation, go ahead with Chyawanprash.
Dosha imbalance -  Both are Tridosha balancing, no doubt. But Triphala balances Kapha and Pitta Dosha, more and Chyawanaprash balances Kapha and Vata Dosha, more.

Where Triphala holds a slight edge over Chyavanprash -
Diabetes - If you are diabetic, taking Triphala makes more sense than taking Chyawanprash. Chyawanprash contains sugar. If the diabetes is well under control, then taking Chyavanaprasham does not do any harm, but still, taking Triphala is safer and makes more sense.
Eye care - It does not mean that Chyawanprash will not help in eye care. But if you are targeting specifically your eyes, then Triphala makes more sense than Chyawanprash.
Wound care – Again, Chyawanprash is helpful, but Triphala is more helpful in non healing wounds. It is useful internally, in the form of powder / capsule / Kashaya. Triphala Kashaya is also used externally for washing wounds, to do sitz bath in piles, fistula, etc.
Chronic skin diseases – associated with itching, scaling, secretions etc, Triphala is more suited.
Obesity - Because Triphala does not increase digestion strength to that extent as Chyawanprash, and because Triphala doubles as mild laxative and has cleansing property, it is more suited in obesity.
Where Chyawanprash is more suited than Triphala -
Respiratory disease, asthma, cold cough -  The first benefit of Chyawanprash enlisted in the ancient formula is – useful in Kasa (cough, cold) and Shwasa (asthma, wheezing etc).
Digestion boost – Chyavanprash contains spices like long pepper, cinnamon etc which are very useful for boosting the digestion strength.
Lean and weak – If you are underweight with loss of appetite, then look no further than Chyawanprash.
Too young and too old – Chyawanprash can be given in very minute dose to kids above 3 years of age. It helps immensely in keeping the cold, cough, anorexia away. Similarly, it is more suited in very elderly people who are weak due to severe degeneration.
Aphrodisiac – Apart from being a good anti aging medicine, Chyawanprash is also very good to improve sexual health.
Improvement in skin complexion – It nourishes the skin, so improves skin texture and complexion.
Memory and Intelligence - One of the important benefits of Chyawanprash as quoted in the traditional formula is – improvement in memory and concentration.
Having enlisted the above criteria, it is also noteworthy that, both are not mutually exclusive. They can be taken together, if your doctor decides so. But if you are to chose only one among the two, I hope that the above points might come in handy. Cheers!

In Ayurveda, Chicken Pox is known as Laghu Masurika. It is medically known as Vericella. It is a highly contagious disease and mostly attacks children between the age group of one to ten years and some times affect adults. It is a viral disease and even after the disease has been cured the virus remains hidden in the body and may attack again later. It is often mistaken as small pox but it is a different disease and less severe.

CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS

It is mainly caused by a virus called varicella-zoster virus. Local skin infection due to over growth of other bacteria, sensitive skin, prolonged illness, poor immunity, use of a strong soap and taking a long bubble bath may also be one of the causes of chicken pox. People who are in contact with the chicken pox patients have a high chance of getting the disease.
The disease starts with slight fever and pain in the back and legs. The person has a runny or stuffy nose and a burning sensation in the eyes which become red in color and water. There may also be a feeling of chill. Within twenty four hours of these symptoms small red papules appear on the back, arms, legs and chest. Sometimes these papules may also arise on the fore head. These papules turn into vesicles but these dry up within a day or two and a crust brown in color appear on them. These eruptions last several days.
According to ayurveda, chicken pox is caused due to the vitiation of all the doshas – vata dosha, pitta dosha and kapha dosha.

Neem leaves should be spread on the bed which again eases the patient from itching and speeds up the process of drying the fluid in the blisters. Neem leaves can be consumed on an empty stomach early in the morning.

  • Itching can be reduced by applying honey to the affected area.
  • A soup made of carrots and coriander should be taken once.
  • A mud pack may be applied twice a day on the abdomen and chest.
  • Water mixed with some baking soda should be used to sponge the skin of the patient. It reduces itching and irritation after drying.

Herniated disk what we commonly call ‘slipped disk’.  It can be a very painful and debilitating condition.
How does Ayurveda help treat herniated disc naturally and safely?
In Ayurveda, herniated disk is a condition that happens due to an imbalance of Vata element. This throws your body out of equilibrium. Ayurvedic treatment is a good way to restore the basic functional strength of your body.
In some people, symptoms like severe back pain, leg pain, or weakness of the lower extremity muscles are traced to a herniated disc. When the cushion that sits between the spinal vertebra is pushed outside its normal position, you have a herniated disc. This can occur as a result of rupture or bulging due to injury, disease, or deterioration. The spinal disc when pushed out irritates the spinal nerves that lay very close to the edge of these spinal discs causing severe pain.
Herniated disc can occur to anyone. It is, however, seen more commonly in people between the ages of 35 to 45 who perform heavy manual labour or drive motor vehicles for long periods of time. There are a plethora of effective Ayurvedic treatments for herniated disks that help restore the equilibrium that is caused by Vata imbalance and provide you relief from lower back pain.
How Ayurvedic therapies help in treating herniated disk?
The ayurvedic healing therapies are beneficial in many ways:
  • -They help in strengthening the supportive tissues that hold your spine.
  • -They help release the muscular spasm and nerve compression.
  • -They nourish the joints by enhancing circulation and relieve pain.
Here are the Ayurvedic therapies you can employ to treat herniated disk:
Kativasti
The term ‘Kativasti’ is made up of two parts – ‘Kati’ meaning the waist area of your body and ‘Vasti’ meaning a pouch like arrangement. In Kativasti treatment, medicated oils are used on your back to treat the herniated disk condition.
Procedure:
The patient is made to lie down on his/her stomach on a bed. Medicated oil is spread over the lumbo-sacral area. After this, a reservoir or a ring is made on this lumbo-sacral region with dough made out of black gram powder. It is made sure that the ring is free from any leakage.
Medicated lukewarm oil is slowly poured into this ring. The temperature of the oil is preserved by reheating and continuously adding more oil. This is done for 30 to 40 minutes.
Later, the affected area is massaged lightly. It is followed by steaming for another 15 minutes which allows better absorption of medicated oil in your body. This process is carried over five to seven days as prescribed by the ayurvedic doctor.
How safe is Kativasti?
Kativasti is pretty safe for you. There are no side effects. This treatment is even safe for heart patients as only gentle massage is given. The only precaution to be taken is to keep the temperature of the medicated oil lukewarm to avoid blistering or scalding of skin.
Abhyanga
Abhyanga is a process where a person is given massage in slow and rhythmic movements throughout the body from head to toe. Warm medicated oils are used by one or two massage therapists for 40 to 60 minutes. The Abhyanga massage is performed in seven postures in by varying pressure at different points in the body.
What are the benefits of Abhyanga?
  • -It harmonizes the imbalance in the body due to Vata.
  • -It provides nourishment and vitality to the bones, tissues, ligaments, helps reduce pain and enhances your healing capacity.
  • -It keeps you full of vitality, removes fatigue and relaxes your body and mind.
Kizhi
Kizhi involves massaging your body with poultices that are made of therapeutic herbs and medicated healing oils. These warm poultices are used to massage the body. This helps the oil to get absorbed by your body tissues, helps in eliminating accumulated toxins.
This therapy rejuvenates your body, improves blood circulation throughout the body, removes muscular fatigue, alleviates mental stress and effectively helps treat herniated disk condition as well as other joint ailments or injuries.
Dhanyamla Dhara
‘Dhanyamla’ means body and ‘Dhara’ means continuous flow of liquid. This therapy involves pouring of herbal medicated oils throughout different parts of your body. This is done by pouring warm oil from a vessel hung overhead over the affected areas of your body in a rhythm.
It is given for 45 to 60 minutes and lasts for 7 to 12 days depending upon your doctor’s assessment.
This therapy helps relieve body ache and muscular spasms by boosting blood circulation. It revitalizes your body and enhances immune system immensely. It is an effective method of treating herniated disk.

Here are Some Pain Relieving Ayurvedic Remedies You Would Like to Know

Vata imbalance causes herniated disk condition. So, by correcting this imbalance, the symptoms of herniated disk get treated. the following ayurvedic remedies and medicines help treat herniated disk condition effectively:

OA Knee joint is mainly the form of Osteo-Arthritis which is a degenerative joint disease due to the lack of lubricating (Synovial) fluid in the joints, leading to damage in cartilage, bone, joint capsule, ligaments and muscles.

What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, is a condition when the cartilage cushioning the ends of bones in a synovial joint gradually deteriorates resulting in pain, tenderness and stiffness of the joints. Osteoarthritis affects millions of people worldwide and eventually ends up in loss of movement of the effected joints. The condition is more common in weight bearing joints like knees, hip etc., affecting the normal routine lifestyle. The risk factors identified by modern medicine include old age (wear and tear), obesity or extra body weight, injuries and bone deformities. OA is seen more commonly in women compared to men. The treatment targets to control the pain and inflammation at the effected joint.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Osteoarthritis:

In Ayurveda, this condition is referred to as Sandhivata. Among the three doshasvata dosha is considered to be the one responsible for all movements. Imbalance in vata causes the ama (toxins) to move into the colon from where it reaches the circulatory system and gets deposited in the weak joints resulting in stiffness and pain characteristic of arthritis. Thus, the main objective in Ayurveda to treat Osteoarthritis is to remove ama by Ayurvedic treatments of Panchakarma and also improving the digestion and at the same time reducing the vata by relieving the pain and inflammation. Along with elimination of ama from the body, it is also important to follow fasting or a controlled diet so that the body reduces release of harmful toxins and the immune system is able to eliminate harmful toxins from the body. Certain Ayurvedic herbs are beneficial as they act as free radical scavengers and help fight against toxins. Massage with certain herbal oils also to reduce vata and get rid of pain and inflammation. A regular routine of yoga and mild exercise further helps achieve the right balance of physical and mental stress.

What Ayurveda Offers:

Ayurveda specializes in detoxification. Some of the detoxification treatments involve a mild sweating action to help open the physical channels of the body and help push out the toxins. Also, Ayurveda offers special knee joint massage and external treatment for relieving knee pain. In this particular Ayurvedic procedure, the warm medicated oil or herbal decoction is used to bathe the knee. This may be followed by hot fomentation of the knee joint.

Janu Basti:

Ayurvedic This is an authentic Ayurveda procedure to relieve you from knee pain and is generally performed at Doctor Panickers Ayurveda Hospital. Two trained therapists will lightly massage your knee with warm and medicated oil which is vata balancing. And then warm medicated oil is filled over the knees, by making a doughnut shape area encircling the knees. This entire procedure takes about 30 minutes. This is one of the best known Ayurveda treatments for knee pain.

Knee Noises: Do You Need to Be Worried About Pops and Cracks?

Quite a lot of people start worrying about their knees making pops and cracks sound. In most cases, these noises are not indicative of any underlying problem. Many people have knees that make these noises when they squat down or go through the full arc of motion. But when the cracking or popping is accompanied with pain or swelling, then it should be treated.

Why Does Knees Make Noise?

As we age, cartilage, which is the tissue that covers the bones can develop uneven areas. When we squat or stand, the sound comes from these rougher surfaces gliding across each other. The same sound could also emit from another tissue called ligaments that connects one bone to the other.

Also while aging, gas can build up in the areas surrounding the joint, forming tiny bubbles in the synovial fluid. When you bend your knee, some of the bubbles burst, and ligaments may snap or pop. This is normal, and happens to everyone from time to time.

When Should You Worry?

If you have cracking or popping that does cause pain or swelling, it can be a sign of:
- Meniscus tears, which is often caused by sudden, acute trauma, such as twisting while playing sports.
- Cartilage injury or wear.
- Knee crepitus, another term for cracking and popping sounds, is one of the common symptoms of osteoarthritis (OA). It also can be one of the symptoms of rheumatoid or infectious arthritis, and may accompany several different types of knee injuries.

Treatment

Crepitus is harmless and needs no treatment when it isn’t caused by disease, injury, another condition, and doesn’t hurt. But, when pain accompanies a crunchy knee, treatment will depend on the underlying cause. In rare cases, surgery or joint replacement may be necessary.

Ghee or clarified butter, in the past found mainly in many Indian dishes, is now becoming a favorite ingredient not only for Ayurveda cooks, but also main stream chefs and nutritionists as they experience the qualities it brings to their dishes.  Ghee is made from butter, but its milk solids and salts have been removed which then makes it a pure “oil”.  This oil can be brought to high temperatures without burning.  (An important factor in the kitchen and possibly why many French cooks use it in their sauces).  When ghee melts it is clear and has a beautiful yellow color as well as a  faint nutty smell, a little like popcorn.  That quality only enhances the richness and flavor of everything that contains it.
Ghee and Ayurveda: The Health Benefits of Using Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Ghee and Ayurveda: The Health Benefits of Using Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Ghee can also be used instead of butter.  In fact I use it much more often than I use butter.  It becomes solidified at lower temperatures, so in most cases does not need to be refrigerated.  Ghee does need to be stored in a glass container with a tight lid.  When removing from the jar, be careful to not contaminate and ruin it with other food products that may be present on a knife or spoon.
Ghee has a wonderful rich taste, but it also contains amazing healing properties.  First, it is tridoshic, meaning all 3 constitutions (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) benefit from its qualities of a sweet rasa (taste), cooling vīrya (the effects of ghee on metabolism) and sweet vipāka (post-digestive effect). It should be noted that the Kapha constitution needs to use sparingly, as ghee has kapha qualities and may cause imbalance.
Ghee is also used in Ayurveda for medicinal purposes.  It is considered a prabhāva, which means that its dynamic, electo-magnetic action, or its ability to heal, cannot be explained by the logic of rasa, virya, or vipāka.  Considering Dr. Frawley’s quote, which reflects the idea that the “essences” of all the grasses in the world have come through the cow, then through the milk, then through the butter and then finally refined into ghee, I think is such a beautiful way to explain that “nature heals nature”.
Ghee and Ayurveda: The Health Benefits of Using Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Ghee and Ayurveda: The Health Benefits of Using Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Because of its potent healing qualities you don’t need much.  Dr. Lad states in his book Textbook of Ayurveda General Principles of Management and Treatment that if one teaspoon or less is eaten per meal, ghee can actually help to increase HDL, the good cholesterol.  Some additional reasons to use ghee when preparing your food are:
• Digestion (helps absorb and assimilate nutrients)
• Improves memory
• Helps increase flexibility by lubricating the connective tissues

You will find ghee the base of many herbal ointments for skin problems such as rashes and burns.  While attending Ayurveda School, I was lucky enough to get to help make a ghee face cream using ghee and water in a copper bowl.  It took the entire class several hours to complete this project of “washing” the ghee.  The procedure included mixing ice water with ghee in a copper bowl (no bacteria can grow in a copper bowl).  We each took turns stirring the mixture with our hands, and then filtering it through cheese cloth to only start the sequence again with the next student.  We did this over one hundred times.  The ghee face cream was the consistency of thick, whipped cream.  It was an incredible experience and so much fun, especially having ghee all over our hands when we were done.  We didn’t want to wash it off and waste it so we just kept rubbing more and more of it on our faces, arms and legs. We each were given a small container that was like owning gold, at least for me, and I used it over the next few months. I have used ghee for many things since then.  I even use ghee in my eyes to moisten the tissues and relieve dry, red eyes
